Bardolino:
Hilly centre, of ancient origin, whose economy is based on the positive coexistence of agricultural, industrial and commercial activities. The territory, which includes part of Lake Garda, has an irregular geometric profile, with accentuated altimetric variations. The inhabited area, in strong building expansion, has a typically hilly plan-altimetric trend. Against the blue background of the municipal coat of arms, granted with a Decree of the President of the Republic, a rampant gold lion crossed by a silver band stands out.

History:
Its first inhabitants were the Neolithic, who settled on the rock in the 4th millennium BC. It is said that its toponym is connected to the mythology of the ancient city Troy; in fact, it seems that this comes from the proper name of a certain Pardali or Bardali, born of King Aulete, founder of the city of Mantua. The area was soon conquered by the Romans, who left their traces above all in the urban layout of the place. Between the 11th and 12th centuries it was included among those territories that were under the administration of the Scaligeri. There are few testimonies relating to the history of the following centuries: it was certainly involved in the historical events of the whole surrounding area. There are many buildings (both religious and civil) of its historical-architectural heritage that bear witness to its past; among the most important are: the church of Santi Nicolò e Severo, rebuilt in the 19th century on the foundations of an older church (dating back to the 13th century); the church of San Severo, Romanesque from the 13th century, in which very beautiful frescoes are preserved; the church of Santa Maria della Disciplina, from the 14th century; the church of San Pietro, dating back to the XII century; Villa Guerrieri, Villa Bassani Raimondi, Villa Marzan, all dating back to the 19th century.

Economy:
The main sources of income are agriculture, with the cultivation of cereals, vegetables, fodder, vines (which produce grapes with which a DOC wine is produced), olive trees and fruit trees; cattle, horse and poultry breeding is also practiced. The industry is made up of companies operating in the textile, food, construction, engineering, shipbuilding and gas production sectors; there are also factories of furniture, glass and optical instruments. A personal insight into the culture is possible in the oil museum.

Relations:
A very renowned small tourist and wine-growing center, it offers to those who go there the possibility of spending pleasant stays, enjoying the healthy air and the beauty of the natural environment; thanks to the presence of Lake Garda, water sports enthusiasts have the opportunity to practice windsurfing, sailing and fishing. It is also very popular for work and has particularly intense relationships with the neighboring municipalities, to which, however, it turns for the completion of bureaucratic procedures and services in general. Among the recurring events, the following deserve to be mentioned: the Chiaretto Bardolino DOC wine festival, with entertainment featuring music, folklore and local gastronomy (held between May and June); the international “Triathlon”, with swimming, cycling and running competitions (held in June or September); in the locality of Cisano, in September, the sagra dei “osei” is held, an over 100-year-old hunting event with competitions, games, exhibitions and local gastronomy; in October the Bardolino grape and wine festival is organized and, finally, in November the new wine festival. It is remembered for its gastronomy and in particular for its typical dish: the “boiled meat with pear sauce”. The feast of the Patron Saint, San Nicolò, is celebrated on 6 December.
