Iris is a unique restaurant located inside a floating orb called Salmon Eye in Hardangerfjord, Norway.
It’s the world’s largest floating art installation. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking of course,
but something keeps popping up in my mind. That film from 2022. The Menu.
Head Chef Anika Madsen has a passion for discovering ingredients from the ocean and a deep commitment to sustainability.

Because its not mentioned in the video: the food is 3200kr(309€) and the drink pairing is 2500kr(220€) , which is tbh not that exspensive considering this is Norway
A restaurant focused on sustainability when sitting in a building anchored in the middle of fjord, made of many tons of steel, and only accessible by boat for small groups of wealthy guests. Sustainability is definitely the first thought that comes to mind… lol
The menu !!!!!
Totally over the top and not in a good way, the food looks sad and not appetizing at all but the view from the restaurant is very beautiful.
Plates with lights😂. Is time to leave earth
Oh that looks like the titan sub
One man’s treasure is another man’s trash…
What the hell is sustainable about this restaurant?
Restaurants are so pretentious, being obsessed with sustainability while catering only to rich people who will fly out there because no one lives there instead of bringing sustainable foods to the masses😌😭
please understand that this restaurant is simply an exercise in trying to make people believe that salmon farming is not hugely damaging to the marine ecosystem.
The idea a salmon farm in the sea could be "sustainable" has repeatedly been exposed as ridiculous, but companies such as this one continue to use the term.
You have maybe heard of big oil and gas companies "greenwashing" by creating schemes to sanitise their image and distract from the significant harm they do to the environment. Perhaps you are also aware of "sportswashing", which involves countries with appalling human rights records paying obscene amounts of money to buy and fund sports clubs or stage major sporting events, also in an effort to improve their awful reputations.
This is basically the equivalent of that. We can call it "foodwashing".
Fish farming causes dangerous pathogens and diseases to enter wild fish populations, along with various other environmental problems for the surrounding ocean. This restaurant is an effort to distract from this.
I hope you and other "influencers" realise this and use your power to expose this kind of thing, rather than blindly promoting it.
Haha sustainability 😂
Make it in shape of a cartoonish looking fish and get a one legged chef then I might go to this restaurant 🤣👒⛵☠️
Be careful eatin out there ya’ll, the US might mistake it as a UFO and shoot that bitch up.
This reminds me of the movie the menu
yup. this is on my bucket list now.
overlooked……a drop of water? how do I know YOU didn't PUT that there.
Sustainable Eating of the unsustainable mind. 😊
And after, we went out for a pizza
Does Greta Thumberg own it?
How was he not drunk by the end?
Was it perhaps by a boat?
I hope you realize how ironic it is for you to even listen to meditative music or larp around like you aren’t some debutante
very nice before you get feed the bugs you get the brain washing.
Unbeliewable Wibes
Reminds me of the Alchemist experience I’ve seen on a review not so long ago except this one is very poetic
How about NOOOUUUU
I saw a movie like this where everyone dies except for one woman
You call that food? Those portions surprised these guys aren't suffering from starvation small little single bites glad I couldn't afford sumthin like that apparently I'm not missing much how ever the restaurant is cool on the ocean tho
a restaurant with a business narrative, to save the world is only accessed by boat. things that make you say what. that makes no sense.
Actually i wanted to go there, i asked the prices but i simply could not afjord it.
This restaurant seems nice but basing their whole concept on sustainability was probably not a good idea its just very ironic as this restaurant grows its gonna attract more criticism for this decision compared to if they chose any other concept than sustainability people would not be as critical but they stuck with 'sustainability'….
Ah yes…..Good to see the same folks complaining that $350 is expensive for EIGHTEEN COURSES. Cmon now. We have BIG MAC MEALS being sold for $19.00 in parts of the US. 😂
I was kinda glad when I saw this whole building had more than just this Reatautant.
A restaurant all about the climate…. Proceeds to bring in dishes that if 7billion would consume it the planet would probably not only starve but also show signs of destabilizing all combined ecosystems!!
Tough it would seem this is a pretty cheap restaurant when compared to others that has the "rich" aura with spoon sized servings.
And how would serving a huge array of servings save the planet instead of 1single serving with the needed 2500 daily intake of calories?
The co2 this restaraunt emits is probably 10x higher than mcdonalds per costumer.
Dude doesnt like new world or organic wines. Hes not closed minded at all eith food, but i think he has some bias with wines. Im not a wine guy so its easy for me to say but idk. What do yall think?
The ideological package is obviously incongruent nonsense, kind of like wokeism in the corporate world. Maybe they think it's something they have to do in order to succeed in that sphere, where this kind of concept reigns supreme. Personally I'd just ignore that aspect and go for the experience anyway. It wouldn't be the first time I'd have to separate reality from fantasy when it comes to the human psyche 😄
