How Mamoun’s Became The Most Legendary Falafel In NYC | Legendary Eats

  1. Its arabic dish not middle eastren we dont like to call us this and " kuss um israiel"

  2. I had Mamoun’s in 1973 when I moved into my first apartment on McDougal, will always remember those days fondly didn’t have a lot of money but I had my guitar, apartment in the village and Mamoun’s.

  3. I've been to there New Haven location back in the eighties. The food is so good, and great customer service.

  4. i have stopped nyc trips. it is not a safe city. police have been stopped from helping. city/state govt supports criminals. too bad, it used to be great but now it is unsafe

  5. 4:57 Not sure about the claim that they invented green falafel. There's variation in the middle east. I feel the falafel in the middle east is almost always green. Maybe not as green as Mamoun's but when I make my family recipe it comes out just as green as their's. In my opinion, stay away from yellow falafel.

  6. I thought that was weed in the thumbnail for a sec LMFAAAOO

  7. My daughter is married to Mohammed, I grew up on Mamoun . Between the food truck, New Haven 😋, and Middletown connecticut locations in particular

  8. 4$ haaa????
I am from an Arabic country
A falafel 🥙 sandwich is sold for around the equivalent of 1.5 US dollars in most normal falafel restaurants and if it's of a higher class it usually doesn't exceed 3.5 to 4 bucks, but it's way bigger and has more stuff inside the sandwich.
Either this place is way too expensive or y'all life itself is just more expensive.

  9. The Kebab Stands Falafelsandwich 5mins from me was literally better than Mamouns lmao

  10. Insanely expensive. Had a falafel salad plate and a bottled water, and it ended up being $19 after tax.

  11. Tahini, lettuce, tomato.. that’s how you know it’s good – you don’t even need to add the beets, turnips, garlic sauce etc… no onions???

  12. This the popular, nationalistic and Arab-stamped cultural dish for hundreds of years, that nowadays Israelis are trying to steal it and attribute it to their newly innovated fake culture

  13. Fact/ falafel is mostly ground Fava beans, not chickpeas like most people think. Do research before opening thy mouth on thy short-form news article. 🙏

  14. The consistency is great, Nice and crispy on the outside & nice and moist on the inside 😏

  15. Love this place. Haven't been there in over 10 years. At the time, $2 for the Falafel. At the time I didn't have much money so, Gray's Papaya for a dollar hot dog, a place on 10th Ave & 40th for a large one dollar slice and Mamoun's were my 'go to's.' I guess 4 or 5 bucks ain't a bad deal, today. Gotta take my wife to Mamoun's.

  16. Wow $4.00! Cheapest one you'd ever find where I live (eastern Canada) is $9.00, and believe me, cheap is rarely ever good around here

  17. I went to NYU down the street in the 80's, and Mamouns Falafel sandwich was $1.50 While standing in line, folks use to brag about the father in the 70's and the $0.75 price

  18. Bro I went to Mamoun’s and I guessed Syrian man…damn those herbs, in the falafel are so delicious. And it was like $6 on a Pita in Greenwich village, really great. Cash only, old school

  19. My daughter goes to college round the corner from Mamoun's and it is quite literally her food addiction! The price is more like $6.00 now. The falafel is DELICIOUS!

  20. Wow, my younger self loved this place, my older self not so much, everything tasted flat. Times have changed. 😢
