    Poggio al tesoro – sondraia is my favorite super tuscan but I have never tried Orma. I have tried almost all wines by Tenuta san Guido and Ornellaia tho. Great video as always!

    Hey Mathew, I tried Orma 2018 last winter, and to tell you the truth, it didn't impress me much. It felt a bit young and underdeveloped.
    Oreno 2017, on the other hand, was amazing. The kind of wine that you want to drink it all night and never want to finish. Have you tried Oreno and how would you compare it to Sassicaia?

    You need to try Argentiera, the flagship wine of Tenuta Argentiera. Around the same price as Orma.

    I had Sassicaia 2001 two years ago. The best wine I’ve ever had. Was just perfect. Although price has skyrocketed in the last years. Fantastic recommendation though, I will certainly try Orma.

    I have try a lot expencive super tuscans this year. And the one that blow me away was campo al mare bolgheri rosso from 2020 for under 30$

    Tim, you’re killing me! Don’t be giving up these sleepers like Orma and Oreno….hard enough to find any more ‘15’s and ‘16’s. Lol. If you haven’t tried Caiarossa, it’s at Orma quality level and price point. Bordeaux varietals with a very small % of Sangiovese and Alicante. Keep up the great work.

    I agree Bolgheri plus side area's has it's place in Italy. Nothing wrong with Bordeaux-style wines from Italy. It does not need to be Sangiovese every day ;-). I saw prices went up quite a bit. The Orma 2018 does 100 euro here. Luckily there are affordable Bolgheri's as well. What's your opinion on Moreccio and Varvara?

    Cool video. Never had Sassicaia, but I'll keep an eye out for the Orma. Great find! I like this video bc I've never quite known how to feel about Super Tuscans. 1- The best are very expensive, and 2- as you say, many feel that Italy should stick to Italians grapes. Super Tuscans aren't "cool" any more with the hip wine crowd. But then I'll have a fantastic one and wonder why so many people are down on them. Sammarco with age is one of my favorites!

    For my birthday, last month I opened a trio of 1996's, one of which was the 1996 Ornelaia. It was wonderful, so Bordeaux like. The nose was so integrated and plush I could just spend the whole night smelling it. Best part is that I purchased it for USD 50 many years ago! glad I waited…

    Tried Orma recently and it blew my mind. Bought Passi di Orma but haven’t try it, what are your thoughts on it?

    Super toscan are very expensive, you can find nice left bank Bdx for a fraction of that price with a better complexity and versatility. In Toscana, Chianti classico riserva represents, for me, the best typicity and value. For exemple Barocco riserva 2018.

    Great video as usual! Reminded me of a time where I had the chance to taste 100ml of Sassicaia for HKD 100…so regret that I did not go for it (and I still haven't ever tried the wine yet 🥲🥲)

    if you really like the ornellaia/sassicaia style, you should try mazzei tenuta belguardo (prefer 2016 or 2019). it's a blend of 90% cabernet sauvignon and 10% cabernet franc. a really good value for money super tuscan, since its widely available for around 40 euro.
