for years I thought that I had eaten Parmesan cheese, but it was merely Parmesan style, as I was informed that Parmesan Cheese has the same deal as Champagne, region specific for the genuine article.
Not all sparkling wine made in champagne is even considered champagne. It has to be made from grapes grown on the south facing scarpes of the ile de France
Champagne can absolutely be found cheap. Whether it’s particularly good on its own or “real champagne “ I don’t know but for the purpose of mimosas just get some barefoot.
Sooo You chose to not explain the concept of geographical branding and let people go with more questions less true and ignorant on something that you could have explained
Just me wanting to try to prove myself, real champagne is made in the champagne region of France and while it is a sparkling wine it is distinguished by the location. Like how all bourbons are whiskey but not the other way around.
If you are opting for sparkling wine. Méthode Champenoise, Méthode Classique, or Méthode Traditionnelle, should be somewhere on the label. It might be legally champagne, but it’s made using the same method and grape. Sometimes, you might get pretty good quality at a more modest price.
The only people who get upset about calling all sparkling wines champagne end up looking like fools because they destroy a shipment of Miller High Life for calling itself "the champagne of beers".
