The Bellagio hotel is one of the best places to stay on the Las Vegas Strip. We had an incredible pizza for lunch at Lago by Julian Serrano (too early for the Bellagio fountain show), a delectable but messy raspberry tart for a midday snack at the Bellagio Patisserie, and a stunning lobster pot pie and perfectly cooked (eventually) steak for dinner at Michael Mina Restaurant by the Bellagio Conservatory.     At $175 ea. good for you to send that steak back. Hopefully they cooked you a new one instead of recooking the one they sent out. Ridiculous prices but it appears they're not short of customers who'll pay it.

    First filet was definitely on the rare side but that's how it's typically supposed to be presented – it's a very lean cut so you're at risk of overcooking it . 2nd iteration was definitely closer to medium (leaning towards medium rare) but I think if you're ordering filet, you should expect crispy on the outside and something similar to a warm carpaccio on the inside. You just have to mentally prepare for it. The red isn't blood (hemoglobin)- it's myoglobin.

    I love this video!!! You guys are soooo lucky to be there! The last time I stayed at the Bellagio was in 2015; the food at their buffet was excellent but expensive. But despite the expense, the experience of being there is worth it.

    Hi Derek. I prefer the medium rare. I love the texture and flavor of the warm red center with the caramelized crust. I feel the more cooked the less flavor. I can see why you prefer the medium rare, but I'm with Catherine and how how she likes her steaks.

    The first steak was absolutely medium rare! I love a good steak cooked medium. The second steak was perfectly done!

    I mostly agree with Derek. I usually like steak cooked medium over medium rare. I like to have some juicy pink but not squishy raw/rare, but sometimes medium rare works well on filet mignon.

    That’s the biggest hunk of filet mignon I’ve ever seen. I’d be excited to get such a big serving of it.
