As soon as I saw that silk with the cobalt blue background, I just knew some of that would be going home with you. You certainly had fun in Italy 🙂 I look forward to seeing your gorgeous silks made up
So cute…you look like a kid in the candy store!
What stunning fabrics! When I was in Florence one time, my sister and I went to a fabric shop and about fainted looking at the prices. Thought maybe the decimal point was in the wrong place. 200 euros for cotton shirting. It was nice, but we left empty handed. Found another that had a lot of designer dead stock which was a little more reasonable. Glad you had a wonderful time. Every time you wear the garments you will think of that wonderful trip!
Oh Whitney!!! The concentration on your face when shopping, priceless!! Cannot wait to see these made up! Classic non trend patterns for them all so you can wear them out! lol
I love love love the linen !
Hi Whitney Your purchases were stunning. So pleased that you got what you did as if you had said no you would always regret it. They are unique pieces of fabric and you won’t see anyone else wearing those garments. Love your purse too ❤
The silk fabric that you felt might be your Christmas fabric took my breath away as did all the fabrics, honestly, Whitney! I don't know how you were able to exit the first shop! Do we get to put in our opinion on what you should make? Take a look at The Shelby Dress and Romper by True Bias. I am sewing mine up now; have put wide-leg bottoms of the rompers version at just right above my ankles and I love this pattern! It gives the appearance of a shirt dress, sans collar, but, for me, I don't have to worry about the position of my legs when I'm in my wheelchair. I wanted to snatch the linen fabric away from – so gorgeous! Thanks for sharing and welcome back! ❤
How fun! I'm curious to know what skirt pattern you are thinking of using for your sister to highlight the beautiful linen fabric. I'm needing some skirt inspiration for using a statement fabric.
Love the fabric, and yes, you would have regretted not getting. Kind of a once in a lifetime situation.
Absolutely stunning fabrics! I just love the linen from Venice. It will look so good with that beautiful bag.
omg….just in time. We are leaving this weekend for Portugal then Italy and Spain altogether 1.5 month. I have now so much ideas on what I'm going to bring myself back…Leave once and spend it well! Haha ! great moto to leave by…..Thank you for this video..
Loved your fabric vinegar is the best fabric softener for silk it stops colour running and keeps the lustre . I used to hand dye silk and that is what I was told and used. Will your daughter let us see some of her sketches please . You will always remember that trip with your family.
Thank you for sharing your memorable trip Whitney, your fabrics are gorgeous!
OMG! That last piece of fabric is BEAUTIFUL! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Please show the glasses when you get them. We aren’t all going to Italy right now, so it’s very fun to live vicariously. ✂️❤️✂️❤️
Fabulous!
What a wonderful way to
Choose souvenirs from your trip! I’m so glad you and your family had such a lovely time! Well deserved! Can’t wait to see the fabrics made up into beautiful garments
That Venetian linen will go very nicely with your quilted mustard purse.
These are very special fabrics…for the memories they’ll invoke and for their quality. ‘I can’t take it with me’ is a very true statement so enjoy these treats while you can.
Love the green – I think it will look lovely on you. LOVE the silk panel fabric WOW and your bag ! I dream of that style Chanel bag. Even second hand are out of my price range now. Would love that in black. I bought a "leather" one years ago in Hong Kong. LOVED it but then the black started to peel off. Too sad. Oh that Venice fabric. Divine. Thanks for sharing your amazing haul.
Love that fabric you got for your sister! It is so gorgeous! Love your purse too. I couldn't do mustard though. I would rather have red or black or beige or tan or gray. I loved the green print too. That linen fabric is beautiful. I like the linen fabric looks when you first put it on, but I hate all the wrinkles. I have to constantly remind myself not to linen fabric. ☹️
Love all the fabrics & can’t wait to see what you make with all of them.
Wow fabricsa, but Oh that bag!,,,,
I love the yellow! Congratulations! We’ll deserved!
You don’t have to justify any fabric purchases to us,lol. Those silks are just beautiful and that linen, well, what can I say except Holy Crap Gorgeous and smart to buy the rest of the bolt. I bought silk and Chanel fabric in Paris and the woman kept asking me, are you sure? When you find something like that you have to buy because you will regret it forever and keep wishing you had bought it. I bought a suede jacket in Florence and still remember where. What an exciting trip. I am so happy for you. Oh yeah, you will love the Morano glass. I bought some one Venice, too. Still love it.
Love your fabric choices!
Well that was fabulous! I've really been looking foward to seeing what you bought, especially after I got quite a haul from my recent trip to Germany. That linen is to die for!
So glad you managed to squeeze in some fabric shopping. There are beautiful choices. I will really look forward to seeing if you share making a jacket for your brother in law and how you adapt things for him. I married a big guy and his made to measure are always the Suits and shirts he. Goes for first, comfort is king. Live hearing about the trip, I defo don't think you have been bagnging on about it. Its been lively to follow the planning, making and enjoying journey of beautiful fabric expertly turned into stunning pieces for your loved ones.
My husband & I visited Rome & Venice on a group tour years ago. Your excitement & shopping brought back great memories. I can't wait to see the Murano glass you bought! We had time on our own in Venice and got lost in the maze of streets. I got really scared because I thought we were going to miss the group departing time in the Square. But a tour guide from the UK, familiar with Venice, saw my panic & told us to just follow her & her group because they were headed back to St. Mark's Square where we needed to go. We got back just in time. I was really scared we would be left behind. 🙄
I love hearing about your fabulous trip to Italy and seeing your beautiful souvenirs.
Your fabric is beautiful. If it brings you joy, you can’t really put a price on it. Thank you for sharing with us.
Yes, I love the idea of fabric for a souvenir of a place and especially that silk with the scene on it of Italy so awesome!
Yes, this is the first time it's beem featured on Friday.
When we went to Italy, I only brought a carry on, so I kept me from buying anything except a scarf.
All are beautiful choices. I’d love to see what you make with them.
Trust your sister, that green makes you sparkle.
All your fabrics are beautiful! Sounds like you had a fun time shopping too!
The single idea I identify with most while watching your videos is: when you find a fabric you can't get out of your head. I so appreciate you sharing that moment with us.
The navy looks great on you.
OMG Amazing and beautiful fabrics. Actually great value for the quality and originality and of course priceless for the memories they will evoke. Enjoy them. 😊
🇨🇦😃
You found gorgeous fabrics!! How could you pick from all that was around you? lol. When we went to Italy, we shipped a case of fresh made olive oil home to hand out as souvenirs. I didn't sew yet so that wasn't a thought. I'm so glad your Mom got to experience the trip with the family. God bless.
Maybe I have been living under a rock, up I have never seen linen fabric printed like that! The most I’ve seen is stripes or plaid. I love that, actually I love all of your purchases! Thanks for sharing.
Where did you find these? Was there a store name?
Absolutely gorgeous fabrics! Thank you so much for sharing your fun in Italy. I loved hearing about all of it, every single detail. I have to say that your favourite piece of fabric was also my favourite. Even watching this episode on my cell phone did not diminish my instant reaction to the colors in your first choice. I felt almost in awe of their beauty and just loved the unique scenes. These fabrics are just perfect for you and will look so stunning in whatever apparel you decide to make them into. I feel like you will just have to wear them to red carpet events. I tried to imagine where you will go and what you will do dressed so beautifully. And then I thought, you can wear these beauties anywhere just to enjoy them and bring Italy to wherever you and your husband go. I always love seeing others dressed to the nines and having the opportunity to share in their happiness. The song "What A Wonderful World," started to play in my mind. My second favourite piece is the one that your sister convinced you to buy…it was the other colorway of the first fabric you showed that was blue and pink: truly lovely. But, I just felt over the moon the instant I saw the second colorway with oranges, cream, greens…Going to Italy was worth beung able to purchase such glorious colors. I really cannot think when I have seen such pure, rich, and vibrant color. I am now convinced that getting one's colors professionally done is definitely worth the effort and cost. Knowing what colors look best on you made it so much easier to make the best choices. I, also, am looking forward to seeing what you do with your fabric. I have every faith in whatever pattern and style wins out for each fabric. I think all your years of sewing have wonderfully prepared you to enjoy this opportunity and to produce beautiful clothing that you will love wearing for a long time and be treasured reminders of your family trip to Italy. I loved blown glass for as long as I can remember and even wished I could learn this art. You could not have announced anything better when you said that you selected your glasses in different colors. That is exactly what I would have done too! The unveiling of your pitcher and glasses is the perfect cherry on top of your Italian Holiday souvenirs. On so many levels, you have inspired me to aim higher and live up to my dreams for my family
and myself. Thank you again for making this video and sharing the rewards of your plans and your work! I have had a wonderful evening just
hearing about your family vacation to
Italy and how much fun it was for everyone individually and as a family.
I am truly delighted for you in all ways! ❤ 😊🎉 💞🌠
Beautiful fabrics! You did much better than I did when I was in Italy. I was in Florence and went to only one fabric store and I was overwhelmed by all that was there and walked out without anything! I didn’t get to shop for fabric while in Rome but I probably would have done the same thing and not bought a thing again. I can’t wait to see what you make with all your fabrics.
Ahh – how gorgeous are these?! Love Reagan’s pick!
Beautiful fabrics! Enjoy creating and wearing your new garments!
Oh, the silks and linen! They are gorgeous. I wouldn’t have passed them up, either. 💗💗😘
