3. Pompeii still produces wine. The green areas of the archaeological excavations house vineyards that produce a fragrant wine called the Villa dei Misteri.
4. Archaeologists have discovered 25 brothels in Pompeii. The largest and best-preserved brothel is the Lupanare, named after the slang word for prostitute, “lupa” (she-wolf). Inside, there are erotic frescoes thought to serve as a sort of menu for visitors.
