The first restaurant is an asylum
The extreme difference between the US and original version is pretty stunning. The American version is SO much more dramatic and full of tension compared to the UK version which is generally more about fixing the issues (mainly food) in a slower, more methodical fashion. I don't think that's a comment on the nations so much as the production companies and what they feel the audience wants to see. The difference in editing is incredible- this version is far more "Reality TV" style with recaps and narration explanations which seems to show a lot less respect for the audience (as well as time fillers!).
*Edit: Not saying one is better than the other, just the difference on what is ostensibly the same show is pretty extreme. I'm English but find the US version more entertaining (mainly because the "Characters" are usually more extreme/ arrogant/ obstinate). Though I also think it's a lot less genuine… More production "Tricks"….
