    I can confirm after dating for 10 years and being married for 8.5 years, we definitely flip the checks over, even though it’s mostly to figure out tip. We even high five when it’s not as much as we thought. After being married you definitely are like “what’s this? Why so much? How did that happen?”

    About 10 years ago, a buddy of mine set me up to take a woman he knew on a date,….it was for an upcoming day,….he only told me the good stuff about her at first. She was pretty, dressed nice, was a real hot number. Then after she agreed to go out with me,….he starts telling the things I needed to worry about. Like she was recently divorced,…..I mean, like just a week before,…..and that her Ex, was a hot headed fellow, with a criminal past,…..then he tells me the Ex, was known to carry a weapon on him, at all times and that he ran with a posse. I go on the date,…..and we're at a high end bistro,…..everyone in the joint knew her, all the waiters and especially the bar tender. She orders the most expensive drink,….then heads to the powder room, and the bar tender,..gives me a "look". He is surprised a ( poor schmuck) like me is with her. He confirms her Ex is a known hoodlum. He tells me she likes the best things money can buy. I tell him I'm just poor hourly worker,…a clerk in a store. He shakes his head,….and looks down, and slinks away. The lady was a real looker, dressed to 9's,….we agree that on our first date,…we'll just have appetizers and drinks. She orders Champagne and double order of escargot,….( snails in shells). Yep,…you guessed it,….the bill was around $250.00,….plus I had to leave a tip. Boy, was she out of my league! I was just glad I wasn't murdered, later that night.
