Hey y’all today in Crys Kitchen we are cooking up a special fun dish that I love to have for Sunday dinner or even the Christmas holiday. This dish is tasty and awe-mazing. It’s my Ma’s Meaty Sunday Lasagna and just like the title suggest it is filled with meaty goodness tasty sauce and of course packed with layers of cheesy yumminess. And what I love best is there is no ricotta in this dish but there’s an unexpected ingredient twist!

What you’ll need:

1 box no boil lasagna
9×13 casserole pan
2 cups of mozzarella (or provolone for layering)
additional parmesan or Italian blend to top
parsley to garnish(optional)

Meat Sauce:
1 pound Italian sausage (remove casing if necessary)
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 small onion chopped
2-3 garlic gloves minced
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 Tablespoon garlic powder
1 Tablespoon Onion Powder
3-4 Tablespoons dried Italian herb seasoning
1/4 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste
2 (28 ounce) cans of crushed tomatoes
2-3 Tablespoons brown sugar
1 1/2 cups beef broth (or water)
1/2 cup red wine (optional can use more broth or water instead)

Cheese Mixture
2 eggs
3-4 cups small curd cottage cheese
1cup shredded Italian blend cheese
salt and black pepper to taste
1/4 cup parsley
