A guy called Davy who has a massive following on social media posted a video of himself complaining about lunch in Italy. The problem is that he wanted lunch in the morning. A pretty good contrast as to how Americans and Italians view food.

I'm an american! I get what i want, when i want!…. nope
Oh just add he sounds like a little englander, and by that Imean little english, not Scottish, NI'ish. Indon't know what Welsh r like travelling.
I've always wanted to go to Italy and my reason has always been to eat their food. I love the whole ethos surrounding Italian living.
Alternative headline:
Wealthy American travels to Europe to experience the rich culture change as flex ….complains that culture is different from what he wants
This is clearly a case of Portnoy’s complaint! (Ho,ho….)
Just ask them for a cafe americano. They give you some hot water to water it down with. He’s multiplying up espressos 😂…. ahhhh Americans, bless them.
I just had lunch and I am in Europe and it is 13:28 (1:28 pm).
As an American I'm wondering if this is a joke, because at least in my experience most restaurants don't serve lunch before 11 at the earliest…
What a clown 🤣🤣🤣
Lunch isn't a set food it's a fast time u eat lol
Ive always argued ur first meal of the day IS ur breakfast, doesnt matter wtf u eat or what time u eat, if its ur first meal its ur brekkie!
So he asking (in my view) for the impossible. The staff should have just said yeah we do lunch and gave him breakfast.
Yeah. A bit like Starbucks were going to 'teach' the French how to drink coffee 😂😂😂
I live in Italy and let's face it what Americans know about food they could write on the back of a postage stamp and still have room for a shopping list
What people won't do for a minute of social media fame nowadays, right? Any crap will do. Some deliberately make idiots of themselves, because that also sells.
breakfast for many Americans is a Wendy’s, Taco Bell, Mcds etc.. that should tell you all you need to know about the difference
Just another Septic Tank thinking their way of life is the only way. Complaining about the country your visiting (Just Like the ENGLISH – Yeah I said it) shows how ignorant people are especially Septic Tanks and ENGLISH.
Lunch and dinner are important events in Italian culture, it's not just about food but more importantly a chance for the family to meet (and perhaps shout at each other if you're with my Italian relatives😂)
This guy's a moron
'Hey, man! I need lunch and I need it now! Pronto! I got a cubicle I need to get back to and a boss I need to make rich.! Like yesterday guy!😄😄
Newsflash to americans: the rest of the world is not the USA (despite what holywood and Emily In Paris might like you to believe). The expression "When in Rome be roman" doesnt exist for no reason. If you travel abroad and dont do xome research an then suffer a cilture shock its all on you, you're the one to blame.
Lunch outside lunch hours?? BARBARIC!!
Why bother making this a thing? , nobody takes Portnoys reviews on Pizza seriously, he has no idea about food, he's an American.
Americans have lost the right to ever talk shit on British food. Guy doesn't even appreciate food in Italy.
And then other Americans wonder why they have such a bad image over here in Europe, when they send us such nutcases..
I'm surprised he never realized why lunchtime is called lunchtime, other than it's the time when lunch is served.. which is usually around 12oo.
To be fair, he is insane.
Max. Be aware
Dave Portnoy has a huge YT channel all about sampling pizza.
This is definitely a send up.
😂

I am an American, and 9:00 am is still breakfast for me. So I don't know what this guy's problem is, beyond a need for everything to revolve around him. That seems more like a rich guys entitlement thing going on here
"And you know what else? They don't do that plastic cheese we love, the biscuits ain't biscuits and I couldn't get a mess of grits for love nor money, even in my 5* hotel"
Nowhere in Europe you'll get lunch in the morning! This is a very uncultured person! Didn't his momma teach him " When in Rome…"?? Apparently he'd just forgot! At least he had some wine in the morning! No wonder why he felt the urge to just talk nonsense
Hmmm. Just remember that breakfast (break fast) should be the biggest meal of the day because you have fasted for at least 8 hours and the whole day stretches out in front of you. So breakfast the largest meal, lunch a mid sized meal and dinner a light meal because it's the end of the day so your body is not going to be as active as it was earlier in the day. I don't know why or when the "modern" European meal plan came about but it should be reversed
: I never ever heard of lunch being before 11 AM, unless one works a crazy shift at work. In America, where I was born and live, lunch doesn't get served at most restaurants until 11 AM, perhaps 10.30 AM if it's McDonald's. I had no problem when I was in England, Italy, or on Malta with meals. Dave's kind of a bitch.
Dinner! It's yer tea not your dinner! Dinner is what you have on Sunday in the middle of the day mate.
This gentleman is right. We don't serve lunch here, we serve pranzo. And when he's not the breakfast type he has to wait until pranzo. And the coffee….yes, american coffee is no coffee and american bread is no bread. But sorry, british bread is the same, no bread at all. 😂
Greetings from Tuscany
That’s why so many Americans waddle.
You have to admit that Italian breakfasts are marvellous so why not carry on eating breakfast until lunch starts ? Some of the nicest food that I have ever eaten in my whole life, was in Italy (Avezzano, Catania), so I know how the American guy in the video feels.
It's interesting your times are both late or in the day than I would expect. I think of lunch as something between eleven and one. Dinner as something between five and eight. Then again i'm usually trying to transition towords wind down about seven.
I've never heard of anyone eating lunch in the morning. Makes no sense at all.
And here's the reason why too many Americans should not be allowed a passport 😆
Americans in Europe are so funny. They only think about food and not actually travelling
Relax and enjoy the day. 9-11 is usually breakfast, then it’s brunch
How has this guy massed a $100m fortune??
He can’t be staying in a five star hotel, as they typically serve hot food 24hrs a day.
OK wondering what it is I eat everyday at about 12.30. Hmm 🤔
Typical yank, what a pillock
What this video shows, is not the difference between how Italians and Americans view food, but how a large number of Americans are ignorant, self-centered, self-entitled, self-opinionated, narcissistic wankers,
I do love your channel and social commentary, but is that he’s being ironic and that you’ve missed it.
I have to say that when I lived in Spain I had a similar experience to this gentleman. No, it wasn’t about not serving lunch at 9am and I didn’t post a rant about it (until now 😂) – I just adapted.
The point is most restaurants have specific service times. Usually between 2-5, then 8-12 or 1. If you wanted a meal outside these times then you’re out of luck, or can find a fast food restaurant.
I’m not American, and have lived in many places America is not one of them and tend to agree with this gentleman that while I understand this choice of service, it didn’t suit my lifestyle.
Ask yourself, when was the last time you had lunch with the extended family? In the UK it’s called Sunday roast and happens once a week when family enjoys a 2-hour lunch. Every other day you can get a meal at any pub any time you want but of course the quality of the experience is not the same.
I can only envy who is able to enjoy long lunches every day because I can’t afford to (don’t want to either tbh).
I never had any problems getting lunch or any other meal in Italy.
I visited the US once so far, and one big problem we had is that you have to eat dinner early. If you think about eating at 8PM, it gets complicated. And I'm talking about major cities, he seems to be in a small town/village. I'm French, I'm guessing Spaniards have a major problem when visiting the US. Solution, that would also work for him : find a supermarket, buy some basics like bread, ham and cheese, so you always have a backup.
I understand why he's a bit agitated though, if he really drinks 5 or 6 espressos in a row…
Just a poor comedy skit. Nothing more
"When in Rome…"
Reminds me of the British women going to Spain for a holiday – and complaining there were too many Spanish people there.
If you want "home from home" – stay home.
