The Montirius episode was one of your best. Love the garrigue and never met a Côtes du Rhône that I didn't want to try or to finish. Saint Cosme and Kermit Lynch are staples. btw. I keep meaning to thank you for the tip on the Rovsya glasses – versatile and have held up well. I rarely feel like I need to go for a special glass.
One of my all time favourites. Often delivers lovely every day wines for 3-5 Euros, from supermarkets, here in Europe. I think the 8-10 Euro range is especially strong when it comes to value…
I got to try a Cotes du Rhone called Lavau, couldn't believe the elegance and freshness and cost only $15. I got another CdR in my cellar from the Perrin family at the same price, can't wait to try it.
It's hard to go wrong with GSM! Made my shopping list easy for this week.😁
Thanks Matthew, love the value wines and cotes du Rhone is a great option.
CdR is a good option. At the store in the international section some of the CdR is my top sellers.
Cotes du Rhone was probably my first foray into "serious" wine when I started learning more about region and varietal and not choosing wines just on colour and price point. It helped that I was living in Lyon at that time and the reasonable prices and variety of wines that were available. Sitting in a brasserie in Vieux Lyon, sipping on leftover Rhone wine with a platter of Saint Marcellin brings back memories. Ironically, I didn't learn about Cote Rotie wines until I moved to Paris. They were probably outside my budget 😂
I agree. Cote du Rhone represents the greatest value in the World.
Years back i got the letter every year from Mordoree about reine des Bois Chateauneuf du pape that allowed me to buy 12 bottles of it from the domaine at a ridicolous low price. One year it received 100 points from Robert Parker and tripled in value right after.I also bought their Lirac Reine Bois even quite a bit cheaper..Janasse Clos des papes. Sabon. Pegau and others. I bought loads of too from the domaines. World class wines at extremely low price compared to the quality.Sadly those Days are gone. Much more expensive now and my families House in Southern France is sold😭😢
Great value and super delicious!!
Had the Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône 2019 recently and it was great
CdR value is insane. But dont make too many videos like this, we dont want everyone to know otherwise prices will go up! 🙂
"I believe that the only courage anybody ever needs is the courage to follow your own dreams." –Oprah Winfrey
so underrated. always impresses my friends learning to expand. the white CdRs are even more underrated imo, love them a lot
Love the content man, I use your video as education for my videos. Hopefully we can collab one day 🙏🏽
I find ,out of the cote du rhone wines are jammy hot wines of poor quality wines. However the Clape Cote Du Rhone from northern rhone is excellent
Cotes du Rones! Some nice wine, not my favorite but there are some good ones at reasonable prices.
Great Video Matthew! And so true, CdR wines offer a great Value for Money. And wow very good results for the Cairanne winemakers.
Another great video, thanks. I really enjoy the blinds and appreciate when you point out budget/value bottles that are available across the USA. I now have a couple more I'll be hunting for. Cheers.
I cannot agree 💥 ….i drank copious amounts of Cote du Rhône and i find Portugal and Spain a much stronger source of quality/value wines. If we are talking in the 20€ range of wines….i mean there's no comparison according to my palate of course. Dão, Bairrada, Arrábida , Rioja and Ribera crianza.
Cotes du Rhones are pretty much our cellar savers and go-to wines here in Seoul, South Korea, as everything else in their price range are bottles whose retail prices have been prohibitively marked up. For some reason, the CdRs are still reasonable here. So yeah, awesome value and great wines!
To be honest, I often struggle with Cote du Rhones – I've tried some well-rated GSMs (even amongst CDP / Gigondas / Rasteau) – but I find that for the price you pay, they can lack depth / length, especially considering the ABV. Smooth and easy-drinking, but I've tended to find them a little uninteresting given that they're often such big wines.
CDR and Beaujolais are such amazing value! Apparently Languedoc as well
Yes Côtes du Rhône has the best value for delicious wine. For French wines, Rhône and Beaujolais wines always win my heart
Nice video and congrats on the views. This was a popular topic it seems. I grabbed an $8 cotes du rhone from Kaufland last year and I'm guessing it would be available for around $5 in France. It was quite impressive for the price point and better than many local wines in the price range.
Another great video. Watching while sipping some nice Riesling (hint, hint, time for another Riesling video), Weingut Heinrich Mayer Zeller Petersborn-Kapertchen Spätlese * 2015, that I bought for……..8 euro! NOW we're talking value.
I ❤ CDR'S also oh yes I do oh yes I do 💞💞💞
Good video, well done!
..’most unique’ – what does that mean?
A series on under the radar wine regions would be good. From France at least I can think of Bergerac, Gaillac, Cahors, Madiran, Chinon, some of the lesser known Bordeaux appellations like Castillon. That's just France, I'm sure there are many more in Italy and Spain.
