Today we finally make our return to South East Asia after a lengthy festive break in the UK. Our first stop is Bangkok in Thailand, however, instead of the direct route from A to B we decided to take the longest route offered to us by Skyscanner which of course, was also the cheapest. 48 hours in total instead of just 11. Is it worth the savings? Or is it just a travel nightmare?

Totally with you on the longer option. I travelled in august with my teenage daughter from Man-BKK. Direct flights from MAN or LHR were coming in at 1500 quid each. We went Manchester to Brussels stayed in air bnb and had a steak frites in a local restaurant then next morning across Brussels to its other airport to Dubai then Dubai to BKK. It took us about 36 hours all in but we only paid 400 each. We were spending 3/4 weeks out in Thailand so we had the time to do it the long but cheaper way. Like you say yeah you land not knowing what day it is and knackered but it was totally worth it 😊
