  1. The reason of course is genetic, but for me Italian walk like 10 or 15 km a day, use bycicle in fact old people's use bycicle in 60s 70s or 80s , in my country a woman or man whit only 50s have arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis

  2. Scandaloso, la pasta noi la mangiamo tutti i giorni anche 2 volte al giorno. 2 volte a settimana non esiste proprio, troppo poco.

  3. Hello #Easy Italian. I'm Italian and the solution is simple: fresh food, non junk food, enjoi life with family and friends and walk.

  4. Unfortunately this is not accurate. Italian children have some of the highest obesity rates in Europe. Concern about this has been raised in the Italian ministry of health.

  5. Is it just me or do some of them pronounce the letter R a bit like in French. Is that a regional thing?

  6. It's not a matter of quantity but quality of food. Olive oil and no butter or other fats like it, (a) good glass of wine, take time to eat, walk around town and make love

  8. Our food is not that full of grease, butter and poor quality oil, our portions aren't huge, and we have great quality prime products. Also all our city centers allow us to walk a lot and in the meantime see the beauty and history of our cities, have a chat, do shopping etc.

  9. I looked up the world obesity rates, Italy has risen to 19.9% of adults. France is 21.6 % of adults.
Obesity, coming to a neighborhood by you.

  10. I see a lot more people walking the streets of Italy than I do here in America. I live in one of the largest cities in the US, and most people transport via vehical. But in European countries, such as Italy, it seems more people are on foot or bicycle. This probably has something to do with staying fit. They just have more cardio in their every day routine than the average American. I almost never see anyone on bike here in the US (unless it's a motorized bike), maybe the occasional cyclist here or there. But I saw a ton throughout the footage while you were recording. Italians are not necessarily riding bikes to stay fit, it's just a routine method of transportation for them. I doubt a lot of Italians do long distance travel, so walking, biking probably works out best for them.

Our cities here in the US are not really built for transportation via foot or cycle. If you want to go to the grocery, you have to drive several miles (and sometimes a lot more) to get the the nearest one. But I bet there's more local markets in Italy's high density areas, where you can just go down to the corner of the street and pick up that bottle of olive oil instead of having to drive 5 miles down the road to your nearest grocery. If you have never been to downtown Boston, you certainly should. All the businesses, markets, stores are all within a walking distance. I was very surprised of how many people were on foot, especially in the older/historical parts of the city. But then again, the city of Boston was built for that kind of transportation.

  14. In the book The End of Craving, Mark Schatzker answers this question brilliantly. Check it out for a really in depth and fascinating explanation. It wasn’t at all what I expected.
