Man, that was depressing….makes me want to cancel my upcoming cruise on the Magic……
We are going on a Alaska Cruise on the Disney Wonder this August
August 27 to September 4th
And I am super excited about it, never been to Alaska before & the last time I was on the Wonder was back in December 2000
My Parents went to Alaska in 2009 for their 40th Anniversary, they went on Holland-American cruise line
I only watched until the end of this Wish commercial because I thought y’all would turn it around and declare the Fantasy the winner. I’ve never been so tempted to yell NO-NO-NO at my phone before. The Wish is far inferior to the other four ships IMO based on how bad the adult pool and spa areas are. The quick service food options on the pool decks are great. But, the main dining rooms are inferior to the Dream class ships-and definitely harder to navigate for people in wheelchairs or who use walkers due to space constraints. Would I go on the Wish if it fit my dates? Sure. Would it ever be my first choice? Absolutely not.
Will bippodi boppodi boutique be open on the Disney wish when the ship is docked??
A very important factor with a cruise is whether the climate will allow you to enjoy outside surfaces: We were on the 11-day cruise on the smaller Magic from Dover, UK, through Norway and Iceland, and were not able to enjoy pools, et al., on account of freezing temps. It magnified the issue of dwindling real estate aboard that ship.
This video came just in time. We just got off of the Wish last week and im already wanting to go on another cruise but wasnt sure the difference in all of the ships. Thanks for all of the info
I love you guys but after watching this video I seriously doubt your judgment, The Wish is by far Disney's worst ship. To say it has more food choices than the other four ships is so wrong in my experience–the only thing better than the other ships is the the BBQ location (if you can survive the sauna of the closed-off Deck 11). And the buffet (we really disliked Marceline Market) and the MDRs are a crowded, cramped and tight. I've never had so many lines on any ship. And the Marvel show is boring and so disappointing. After cruising on the Wish, i began to doubt my desire for any entertainment in the MDR. After we left the Marvel restaurant to just wanted peace and quiet. 1923 is so crowded with very little space between tables that you feel like you are sitting in your neighbors laps and you can't walk around to appreciate the details of the decor. How can it be best for Adults when the Quiet Cove was an absolute after-thought. After cruising the Wish, I began to doubt my absolute fanaticism about DCL. So much so that I've canceled DCL cruises and rescheduled to other luxury lines and I'm Platinum. The Wish as some beautiful detail but for the most part it looks cheap (loads of wallpaper instead of high end wood); dollar store cheap picture frames in staircases. The Fantasy and Wonder are AMAZING ships. The Dream and Magic are close behind. DCL tried to too much with the Wish and failed badly in our opinion (ex. Aquamouse v. Aquaduck)–not surprising when the person in charge of the designing the ship for Disney had never taken a cruise before. It is so obvious to a huge DCL fans. For those of us that love DCL for the classic cruise experience with a twist, they is completely missing from the Wish. Still love you guys, but you got this completely wrong this time IMHO.
We are confused as to what is the "100TH ANNIVERSARY". We just thought it was the 50th anniversary for Disneyworld. How did it jump to 100th?
By the way Brisbane is boring . PS I live in Brisbane
After taking these ships for numerous years as well as watching this channel, gotta say y'all did not hit it on the nail this time. Yea the wish is cool for it's new features, restaurants, etc, it doesn't compare with any of the other ships at all. It's itinerary is pretty standard compared to everything else around and it's only 4 days. I gotta say the dream and fantasy are most definitely the best. In fact, when building those ships, they kept the layout similar to the magic and wonder because of how well it worked. With the wish, they sorta threw all of that out. Lastly, I got complaints about the adult area and teen lounges cuz #1 the adult area on the fantasy has a lot more shade and space, and #2 the sheer size of vibe on the fantasy and dream make it incredibly fun for teenagers. Also the small added touch of a smoothie bar and plunge pool are so nice. Also, the rotating dining restaurants on that class of ships are way more intriguing than the ones on the wish, especially animator's palate. Overall all the ships are good, but also have become more and more pricy
Wow, I’m usually with you on your reviews AJ but I can’t agree on the choice of Disney Wish as Best Adult Ship. Yes, the lounges are great and if you want to pay for dining upgrades the restaurants are really good, but the adult pool space is a nightmare! It is ridiculously small, with no true pool or full sized hot tub, let alone a decent sized bar area. It feels like an afterthought and is really insulting to frequent adult Disney cruisers. Every other ship has a better adult space. If that area matters to you, I recommend avoiding the (otherwise gorgeous!) Wish.
I’m on cruise 6 I haven been on Magic. Fantasy has been my favorite so far, cruised on the wish in October it was last place imo
Sorry…the Wish is worst for adults…the lounges are small, the adult area and cove cafe are small and not easy to get to (and no free snacks like other ships), and lounges are all over and hard to get seat. The rainforest is not good, crowded, no view, weird layout. It’s awful!
I pick the Wonder.
I’ve been on the Dream and the Magic and I’ve got to say that the Magic exceeded my expectations by a lot. I recommend the Magic a lot
The Wish is my least favorite ship. I'm looking forward to going on the Magic and Wonder. I don't think I will go on the new ships, especially if they are designed like the Wish.
You said Dream for European destinations. I'm sailing on the Dream Nov. 30 out of Ft Lauderdale. The Dream is sailing to Bahama starting then.
Dont forget, the Wonder goes to Hawaii from Vancouver. So there are 4 straight sea days on a 10 day itinerary. Not to mention the beautiful sites of Hawaii and the islands. This was one of our favorite cruises!
Doesnt the wish have port of call for its 5 day trip to nassau?
We did a wish trip back in Nov 22. And we had a 5 day for Nassau then castaway. We had it during the hurrican so we got lucky and it was switched to cozumel, Mexico though.
I've only been on the Dream and the Wish, I personally prefer Dream for many reasons but like the Wish lounges more. There is only ONE hot tub on the wish for adults and its a small one where as Dream as like 5 or 6
Alaska cruises are GREAT! I had never seen a glacier (or even iceberg) in person until I took a (Disney) Alaska cruise.
Have you guys only been on The Wish? It’s so clearly the worst for adults lol
While the Wish has some great lounges, I don't love that they are not separated like they are on the other ships, so you do find that they can be filled with children at times. During our sailing we found that many parents were confused as to when these locations were adult only. I felt like the Wish was not a great ship for an adult only sailing. We did a sailing on the Wish with 4 adults and definitely missed the separation you feel on the other ships. We didn't like the Cove area on the Wish nor the fact that there was not a separate area that was away from children. Yes I know it's a Disney Cruise and there are going to be children, but on the other ships you have areas that after a certain time become adult only. The Wish really doesn't have that. Many adults we ran into noted they missed that. It is a beautiful ship but my vote for the best ship for an adult only sailing would be the Magic or maybe Fantasy.
There's a lot of talk about the adult areas on the disney ships but in all your opinions which is the best disney ship for kids
I love all of the ships but the Wish is my least favorite.
The best meal on any of the ships is dinner at Remy on the Dream. The Wish is my least favorite ship. Our wait staff was amazing but the food was…meh. Two things turned me off of the Wish. The nightstand wasn’t large enough to hold my glasses and my phone. My glasses were on the floor every morning. The other problem with the ship was the lack of ventilation on Deck 11. That is the only cruise where I didn’t watch a single movie on funnel vision. I think the Magic is still my favorite ship followed by the Dream.
Sorry the best food is NOT the wish. We just got off the wish and had the worst food ever. Don’t think I will ever go back to the wish as I starved to death. The 3 main dining food sucks. Rather eat at the pool the whole time. My kid also hated the food. I looked forward to the wish and won’t ever go back. No track that goes all the way around the ship. Elevators are like show boxes. The pirate show sucked as well too. I’ll stay with the magic or dream anyday. Good is so much better and so are the shows. Lastly Elsa is NOT black. When they had Elsa come out and she was black all the kids around me and my own kid said who’s that else no black. She had a good voice but you might as well made Elsa a drag queen as kids were pretty upset and so were parents as people left the show in droves that night.
A point of clarification: The transatlantic/transpacific cruises do have ports of call
I’ll humor watching this video but know I put zero stock in anything you say DCL.
My first DCL experience will be on the Wonder this year so looking forward to that! Thanks for a great video!
The Fantasy has the best bathrooms in the adult area!
I paused the video, and shouted "THEY STILL USE THOSE CARDS" right at the start. I was last on a Disney Cruise in like 2007, and the door cards had the same font and everything. The image is different, of course, but dang that's a throwback.
Edit: I have also probably BEEN one of the kids storming past the adult areas. Lol.
The magic is awesome! It shouldn’t be looked down upon for being the oldest. The wish also doesn’t get good feedback because of the layout. I would put the magic and fantasy on top.
Thanks for doing this video! I have no plans on returning to the parks, so it will be DCL for the foreseeable future.
In about 2001 my brother tried to stay on the ship at Castaway Key n& got kicked off even though they advertised that you could stay on in your room. So I'd get from Disney in writing!
Disagree – I prefer Fantasy for Adult only cruise – Wish is better for families
Im going on the Wonder for a B2B cruise. first leg for vancouver to hawaii then the sydeney leg
I've only been on the Wish. We toyed with going on a different ship for our next cruise but decided back on the Wish
Did you just try to claim the "Wish" was "the most accessible"?
Are you joking, blinded by privilege, or just completely oblivious?
I don't know a SINGLE disabled person who agrees it is "the most accessible" ship of the DCL fleet, and more importantly not ONE family from Make-A-Wish (we are Alumni) thinks that a children's play area, that a child in a wheelchair – including Make-A-Wish KIDS – CANNOT ACCESS without hiking to a humiliating BACK DOOR half a ship away and back, like they are UNWANTED GARBAGE… is "accessible"?
Oh, and pretending a GYMNASIUM that has ZERO accommodations for disabled kids – on a ship supposedly FOR Wish kids – and that is only accessible by stairs from the crowded market reveals your bias yet again.
A ship with the center elevators REMOVED is NOT more "accessible".
How are you all THAT oblivious?
A few samples of the HORRENDOUS issues;
The Promanade outside, until now a level outdoor deck, now HAS STAIRS (and a locked off, non-functioning lift to LOOK GOOD only, not it doesn't actually DO ANYTHING).
That's "accessible"?
Solid steel doors to the deck that are STILL not labelled, do not open automatically, and have no openers are "accessible"?
For WHOM, exactly?
No room in restaurants for mobility equipment is "accessible" is it?
No equipment for HOH/Deaf or Blind folx for AT LEAST SIX MONTHS is "accessible", is it?
NO BRAILLE IN ELEVATORS OR SIGNS is "accessible"?
"Most accessible" with ZERO ramps to access to pools – EVERY POOL IS ON STAIRS.
"Accessible" with Cove Cafe, and "adult" areas with no from all elevators, only ONE, hidden, not marked elevator?
"Accessible" with an app that STILL doesn't cooperate with accessibility software, and STILL with only overhead announcements and ZERO TEXT ALERTS?
"Accessible" with constant allergy & Celiac screw ups?
"Accessible" with one ENTIRE MDR that those with Epilepsy CANNOT use?
"Most accessible" with HUNDREDS of reported ADA violations reported. Did you BOTHER looking into complaints? Nope you just regurgitated a LIE you were TOLD to repeat.
A LIE that causes HARM.
Let me guess… YOUR "reviewers" don't BOTHER with noticing the pesky, "unimportant" NEEDS that millions of other people have.
I'll bet you haven't got a SINGLE disabled "reviewer" on staff. You probably consider disabled folx "unnecessary", you arrogantly assume YOU can speak FOR disabled folx.
And this is the result.
Disney EXPLOITED Wish families to promote this obscene "ship", yet deliberately EXCLUDED disabled folx from using it.
Notice, there are no more accessible cabins on the back of the "Wish", like on all the other ships, oh my no! Disney can't possibly "waste" a nice view on those icky disabled people, EW.
Disabled people don't "deserve" NICE things.
They should be "grateful" to be "allowed" on at all… riiiight? 🤮💩 "Better" to sell the rear view to the greedy and wealthy, THEY somehow "deserve" better.
Walt Disney loved historic, classic OCEAN LINERS that WENT PLACES.
Disney loved the immense craft, care and details of historical ocean liners, and FAMILY, not obscene, plastic, cheap, tacky Las Vegas three star hotel/mall… that wallows just offshore & goes nowhere.
What a WASTE.
They ruined a great idea and product with tacky, greedy, loud, pointless hype and HIDEOUS design & layout – all from an ignorant "leader" who admitted they had NO CLUE what they were doing, and we're aiming for a MALL.
Love this video! ❤
