In this video I talk about different wines I will be buying in 2023. These wines will be either from specific wine region, grape variety, vintage, winemaker or vineyard. And I explain why I will be buying each of these wines and perhaps spark interest in you as well.

Note: I buy wines based on the fact that I like them and that at some point I want to open them and enjoy together with my friends and family. Currently I don’t purchase wines for investing, however most of wines featured in this video are also suitable for long-term ageing.

  1. I am a big fan of Sangiovese. I recently learned of Brunello di Montalcino where they seem to emphasize quality over quantity. We will buy a few of those.

  2. Hahaha That general grievous meme really got me. Agnese, you deserve more views and subscribers. Your videos are awesome.

Btw I think I will be aiming for piedmontese wines this year. Your videos brainwashed me into loving Nebbiolo based wines so much 😂😂😂.

  3. Personally I'm going to aim for 2016 brunello riservas, Champagnes from 2008, 2012 and 2013 Blanc De Blancs. 2013 champagnes feel like they're underrated considering how well the chardonnay did in that particular vintage. On that note I'm pretty happy with managing to buy a whole bunch of Fleur de Passion (both regular bottles and magnums) since both the producer Diebolt-Vallois and 2013 has flown under the radar I feel like I've gotten these bottles for a steal.

German kabinetts from the Mosel is also a go to for me, especially now with the 2021 vintage hitting the shelves. A vintage that has an extreme acidity to it which makes me feel like it's just TOO MUCH from all the spätlese, auslese etc. But the kabinett's just right. Yum

The 2016 Barolo Riservas is another thing I'm saving myself for, or at least my wallet is bracing itself!

  4. I find myself enjoying Malbec more and more. Just had steak for dinner and paired it with a 2020 Malbec.

  5. I'm stocking up on any 2016 Grand Cru bordeaux left on the shelves before they all go away. Even 2018 is starting to get harder to find already.

We had a tasting with Estager, and he said 2022 only produced half the juice yield of a normal vintage. If 2023 has a low yield, bordeaux is about to get even more expensive, and I'd rather buy them while they are still somewhat available.

  6. Lovely video! And some great options. Thank you. For the burgundy’s, just Bourgogne rouge, village or 1er Cru for those producers? 😁

  7. Very very good suggestions… Domaine Wachau is just stellar for the money. The 2016 vintage in Piemonte (and a lot of Italy) is just stellar. I think 2016 Barolo is still pretty darn approachable young…

  8. Как-то очень по-русски вы произносите названия/имена собственные.
    Ваше здоровье, милая леди!🙂🍷🍷

  9. For Barolo 2016 its a bit late. Most basic Barolo 2016 are sold out. Some cru barolos from traditional producers are still available, and the riservas mostly yet have to come out. But the 30-40€ basic stuff is mostly gone (I was lucky to start collecting wine, just when 2016 barolo was released and i bought quite a lot, lucky me :))

  10. Wines from Domaine de la TAILLE AUX LOUPS are excellent also, and in my opinion just as good if not better than the ones from François Chidaine.

  11. Excellent suggestions Agnese..! There's nothing better than slowing it down, enjoying a good glass of wine, genuine extra virgin olive oil, fresh ground coffee, and my most recent pleasure home made pizza, neapolitan, new haven… Thanks for wisdom to enjoy our journey..! 🍷 🫒 ☕️ 🍕 💞

  12. Agnes, since you buy wine for investment, you seem to buy them for yourself. Do you also buy wine to store and sell later on? If yes, how and where do you sell it?

  13. Great suggestions! You and I share a similar taste, Loire chenins, Austrian rieslings, reds burgs, pidemontese nebbiolo, now were talking! Shame the last two are getting so pricey! In burgundy ive also found value in Givry and not least Maranges from where ive found really good 1er Crus for less than 30 Euros, some for less than 20 even…

  14. Hi Agnese, I do enjoy a decent Burgundy (as well as Champagne, Claret, Riesling et al) and I have long favored Pommard and Volnay but have ordered a case of Justin Girardin's Santenay having previously had some of his fathers (Vincent) wines which are excellent. As for Champagne, I will be stocking up on Pol Roger, Tarlant and Billecart-Salmon.

  15. Hello Agnes
Many thanks for taking time to put together another wonderful video.
Every Sunday I watch 6-8 videos… yours is the only one that enticed me to go and buy new wines to try. And today, I served the Riesling. YOU MADE ME LOOK LIKE A GENIUS !!!

  16. Love Austrian wines! I just need to be more patient with them. Last year I had a 1995 Riesling Smaragd Kellerberg. Amazing!

  17. A great video, thanks, Agnes. I think that the wines one can or will buy depends on where you are located. As prices and availability are greatly affected by the distance of a wines origins.

We will finally be making a trip to visit our families in Hungary, Switzerland, and Germany this year. So likely Tokaji Aszu, Bikaver (Bull's Blood), Furmint, Hungarian Bordeaux blends, etc. Probably also some Spatburgunder, as well as Riesling and Grau/Weissburgunder.

For Burgundy, it seems that the so-called "lesser" regions of Satenany, Fixin, Mercurey, Givry, Montagny, etc, are where you can find decent QPR without destroying your retirement fund, ha! 😀
