I head to Rome for the ultimate dining experience by going on a food tour. Rome is one of the best cities in Europe to not only get delicious food but also see a lot of historic sights from the Colosseum and the Pantheon to the Roman Forum and Vatican City. During my 2-day visit to Rome, I head to a few restaurants including one where I get a full-course meal with no menu as well as a pizzeria for pizza al taglio and a place for fresh gelato. Rome has a lot of authentic dishes which I try including the pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice) and spaghetti carbonara. While visiting Rome I also check out different sights including the Pantheon, the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Spanish Steps, and St. Peter’s Basilica.

1. Trattoria Der Pallaro – The best way to sample Roman cuisine is to go to a restaurant where there is no menu. Trattoria Der Pallaro is the perfect place for that as I got a full course meal without having to worry about deciding what I want. Trust the chefs, and you will get some tasty food in the process.

2. Hostaria Romana – Located several blocks away from the Trevi Fountain, Hostaria Romana is a Roman staple which cooks fresh food just for you. Make sure to make a reservation as you will almost be guaranteed to be turned away.

3. Da Gino Al Parlamento – Da Gino Al Parlamento is a great restaurant hidden within an alley. Despite how hidden it is, it is worth making the trip here to get some of the best spaghetti carbonara in all of Rome.

4. Il Gelato Di San Crispino – If you are looking for fresh gelato served out of a metal tin (that’s how you know you are getting the good stuff), Il Gelato Di San Crispino is the perfect place to get some tasty gelato while walking around Rome.

5. Vecchio Borgo – For pizza al taglio, Vecchio Borgo is a great local place. There are many options for different slices of pizza located just several blocks away from the Vatican.
