Mercados in all countries have historically been places where poor people shop. I know because I was raised that way in Europe. What do you think about rich (to the locals) foreigners making these places their playpens?
Did you know that back in 2014-2017 Feria Libre Mercado in Cuenca had sweet potatoes more expensive than at Walmart? And there are other favorite gringo foods like fresh shrimp, apples, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, purple onions, broccoli and cauliflower that cost the same or more than at Supermaxi grocery store? Yep, you heard it here first, we wrote about it. Oh yeah, and avocados were the same price as they were at Coral supermarket for months and we showed you that in a video. We just stopped going to mercados in Ecuador.
This is a clue, a tell, so to speak, as to whether a bubble is forming. What are the prices doing at the Mercado, and how would you even know?
So you should do your own research and you should just find your own places where the prices are the best and decent…and try to not be guillible to the what some masses are saying in a bubble and check things out! Thanks for sharing this…it is very good to be reminded.
I was watching some YouTubers in Ukraine, the mercado food are way cheaper than Ecuador. Like a watermelon for $1.30 and it's $3 to $5 I'm Ecuador. Uhhg
