The final stop on my foodie tour of Sardinia was Cagliari, the capital city. On our first night, we had an epic dinner at Luigi Pomata, one of the city’s best restaurants. Chef / owner Luigi Pomata focuses on local recipes, especially featuring fish and specifically tuna. Most of the dinner was seafood-focused but since I’m not a fan of seafood, they had a special menu for me and some of the other land-lubbers.
Dinner started with a pizzetta, topped with mushrooms, tomatoes and mozzarella. Then we had some macaroni with artichoke and cheese sauce followed by more pasta, stuffed with pork.
I flew to Sardinia on Air Italy ( in their foodie-friendly Business Class cabin. They have frequent flights to Sardinia from their hub in Milan. They have daily, direct flights to Milan from LAX and JFK and a few direct flights a week from SFO and MIA.
