You really didn’t expect these food conglomerates to actually adhere to these cuts Stu ? It’s not as if the country hasn’t got a history of criminality at the expense of the people.
Plasencia has a well known banquet Hall in the remains of the castle. Towards Madrid you can stop in Jarandilla de la Verde for a visit in the dinning hall where I Austriaate the best food i encountered in Espana. The illegitimate son of the Emperor of Europe lived there and was placed in charge of the Battle of Lepanto with the title of Don Juan of Austria. The Christian win was spectacular and important to the later history of Christian Europe.
The Epiphany is huge here in the US as well.

Private Health Insurance prices also vary depending on where you live in Spain. I'm a healthy 56 yr old male, no medical issues or history and cheapest I could find here in Orihuela Costa (south of Torrevieja) in one of the healthiest climates in the world…95 euro/month. (Think Stu mentioned he only pays 55 euro/month in Madrid?)

I told a worker in a local supermarket who sells his stuff at a fair price.
when I mentioned the reduction in the cost of milk, he pointed out its only 4% and went on to admit he had been absorbing some of the higher cost of milk already.
Hi Stuart, we're torn between moving to Portugal and Spain. So here's a question (you may politely decline): if your partner wasn't spanish, would you have still moved to Spain / Madrid? Seems to me that PO makes foreigners feel a lot more welcome when they do make the move (e.g. providing all necessary in english).

Maybe I'm a cynic but I don't believe that the early release in Spain was a mistake. Harry craves publicity. The more the better and this has just given him more than he would have got if it had been published on time
For advice on moving to Spain there are numerous YouTube sites. My personal favourites are YouToo Spain and Upsticks . . But there are others. The advantage, for me, of YouToo Spain is that Skatz has moved to Spain post Brexit transition so all his content is totally current.

VAT Should not be collected on any essential items, especially food or medicine. Totally undemocratic practice putting extra burden on those with more limited incomes.
Went to Mercadona on Sat 7th to do my weekly shopping as next Monday back to teaching. After what was mentioned about the VAT/IVA on foodstuff, was happy to discover that on the bill, the 4% has disappeared and you only get the 10% and 21% VAT sums on your bill. This means that I was able to spend about the same as before the inflation escalade. A difference of 5€ more than before. Personally, as I haven't got a car, for me this is a bigger relief than the rebate on petrol! We all need to buy food, cars are not so necessary.
Spanish Tax and medical insurance. If you have a modest lifestyle, 2000€/mo should work. Of course it will be much better if you don't have to pay rent. No tax on retirement pension up to around 20,000 €/year.

It seems that everything has gotten super expensive in Madrid since the last time I was there. I am looking for an Airbnb to stay in Madrid in February and in 2019 for three days I paid $254 now the cheapest I can find same area, same amount of time is $380. So it’s crucial that people are able to benefit from lower cost in their foods and these grocery stores need to get with the program.
