On 20 April 1966, Joan Crawford visited British Prime Minister Harold Wilson at 10 Downing Street. When asked what she made of Number 10, the titan of classical Hollywood jokingly replied: “I’d like to move in!” Crawford also had kind words for her hosts Mr Wilson and his wife, Mary Wilson, calling them “enchanting people”. The visit came one year after Crawford’s starring role in William Castle’s thriller “I Saw What You Did” (1965) and four years after the release of “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?” (1962), the classic psychological horror thriller credited with relaunching the careers of Joan Crawford and her co-star Bette Davis.
