Love all the views of Florence. When we were on a cruise that docked in Livorno about 10 years ago, my husband declared it a sea day, so I decided to take the train to Florence. Not a big problem doing that. I saw a bit walking around, but then got hungry and stopped for lunch. As I was sitting outside for lunch, I saw an internet cafe across the way and went there after lunch. A woman from our cruise recognized me sitting there and asked me how I got to Florence that day. I told her train and she asked if I knew about the train strike planned for the day. What? I quickly looked it up online and it was supposed to start in just about an hour. She told me that if I missed the train, to come to the Duomo at 3:00 pm and they would somehow fit me into their taxi (there were 4 others in their cab). I went straight back to the train station and the train for Livorno left in about 20 minutes. I made it back to Livorno okay, but I think in the summer in Italy one has to be aware of strikes. So I didn't get to see much of florence, but will go back someday maybe.
On our shore excursions I've almost always gotten the same seat back after we got back on. But I generally sit at the back, maybe that's why.
P.S. That white travel bag is fabulous. Well done, Jill.

We had the most absolutely wonderful tour guide in Florence who lived there. We were supposed to have her for a specific amount of time and she kept saying, oh let me show you this. I have one more thing to show you! We'd go back to Florence and to the Amalfi Coast, Venice and Rome not so much!
I expect to retain my seat when on bus trips. Also shame you did not stop by to view the ponte veccio and the Florence cathedral & baptistery when you were by the uffitzi gallery. Both steps from there and both visually fulfilling even if you are breezing by without time to take it all in.
Always same seats! We had Miles and Miles small group tour. Cheaper and only 10 people! Wonderful!
Lol.. Clever placement of the logo in the thumbnail!
Wow, the best of the best. Loved Florence – but would need at least a week there to enjoy what I've seen on this video (added to my bucket list). The food is so good – love Italian food. I would over eat there for sure. The church was outstanding, and so interesting – that I'd be pressed to move on – a must see. I can't understand how NCL could offer such a nice ship – all the great entertainment – but slide on the bathrooms ??? Just seems they are not addressing the needs of the people and would hurt on return guests. Would love to fly into the Med and do a Med cruise someday.
We expect to get the same bus seat when we return to the excursion bus. On NCL excursion to Lunenburg this past October seemed everyone went to same seats. I would NEVER leave anything in the seat though because you never know. Plus when we buy gifts that won't fit in the safe, I store them in our suitcases with locks ON, until we disembark. Cabin doors left open by stewards when cleaning and things can disappear. That would ruin our trip. Just FYI. 😊
I would absolutely expect to get my seat back.
I am so glad Jill’s purse did not disappear with the seats!
Definitely expect to retain the same seat on a bus! Florence is an astonishing place – it's a shame you had such a short time there. We spent several days in an Air BnB and would have loved to stay even longer.
Florence looks amazing
Same seat, I did a tour around Toscane with a tour bus, so not on a cruise vacation, but it is just manners, even if you only travel with the people ones, keep the seat or seats you had at the beginning of the day!
I had that situation mostly in Europe. Sometimes your guide will ask everyone to keep the same seats and still…🙄
PS Take precautions with Covid on your Dec. cruise. A lot of cases and passengers are not reporting themselves. I'm on my third day of isolation. Very mild case. Celebrity has been great for me.
WOW! Great video of my favorite city! We've traveled to Florence five times over the years, once staying a whole week. Never had a bad meal! I guess you can say that whatever port of call in Europe one calls at, one day is never enough. You were smart to take an excursion, there hasn't been too much trouble lately, but Italy is famous for snap strikes, where you can arrive in a city in the morning and then everyone goes on strike after lunch. Not good if you have to get back to a ship that is two hours away. Yes, I would think that one should stay in their own seat throughout the journey, but I guess those days of responsible travelers and common sense are slowly disappearing. Such as when you waited for the stragglers on your in-transit cruise a while back. Or watch pier runners clamor back to a ship they KNEW was leaving at 5pm. Finally, when I compare the ambiance of the MDR between Carnival and NCL, I'm tempted to try NCL again. A lot of understated elegance. Sorry for going on and on. Florence has that effect on me!
On the seating issue – there might be a cultural issue here, as some people consider a seat taken – taken – while others not so. Asians are really pushy and first come first serve is acceptable. Here in the West – we are more territorial, and understand and respect a saved seat. But not sure – sometimes it's just rude and disrespectful in a modern world.
Florence is absolutely gorgeous, and so much history on display! You definitely have some memories to cherish from your visit. I agree with you 100% that when you're on a tour bus and are leaving personal items on the bus you should expect to have the same seats the entire time. That's the way it's always worked for any tour we have ever taken in the past and exactly what I'd expect on any tour we'd take now. How bizarre that these gentlemen would sit in seats that obviously belonged to someone else. I would never even consider doing that.
Is it possible to take an on and off bus excursion to Pisa on that cruise?
Yes we would expect to sit in the same seats
Excellent 🎉
What excursion was it called ?
On my cruises we have always had the same seats
