Miceli’s Restaurant was founded in 1949, just off Hollywood Boulevard, and claims to be the oldest Italian Restaurant in Hollywood. Judging by the decor, its likely true. Faded pictures line the walls and hundreds of empty chianti bottles hang from the ceilings and walls, most of them autographed.

Our waiter, an elderly gentleman named Phil, was holding down the fort in late afternoon and to say he was a bit stretched would be an understatement. Still, he did his best and the fact that the food was delicious allowed us to happily overlook the few lapses in service. Missy Jenn opted for Aunt Angie’s homemade lasagna, while I chose the chicken caccitore. We both received large portions, along with some very tasty dinner rolls. I also enjoyed an Italian beer, one of several authentic Italian beers offered. Our meals came in around $50 in all, a fair price considering the ambiance and the food. We both rated it 9.5 stars. Had the service been more personable and efficient, it surely would have rated a 10. We would both happily dine there again and would also highly recommend it to anyone in the Hollywood area.
