I hope he wins 2 slams in 2023 to put him ahead of Nadal. However until Nadal retires you can’t rule out Nadal winning another slam. I thought he’d never win another one but then Novak couldn’t play Australia and Medvedev somehow lost the final last year.
I'm a Ruud fan. I have a similar type of serve, forehand and backhand stroke as him but I can only dream of playing 10% as good as him. Been following his progress since the juniors. He doesn't have one particular weapon but he does everything very well. I love an all rounder. I like Djokovic but he is a different type of player. I hope ruud will win major titles soon
Novak attacked Casper backhand he needs to improve it! Casper was too defensive and surprised he wasn't able to attack Novak second serve. He stands too far behind baseline.
GOAT…Without a doubt, he still has a few more years of winning to go. Federer is gone and Nadal is very close to leaving the game, imo.
For sure Novak played a very consistent match on a high level, but as far as I saw the rallies in this summary it wasn't very demanding for him compared to the battles he had to fight against Roger, Raffa, Stan or Daniil in the past. For the big one(s) – as long as Raffa keeps on playing – the way Ruud plays is to predictable in my opinion. He has to find this special gear you need to break through. As longer the match went he hasn't got the weapons in this final to make Novak enough trouble to reach a third set.
Terrible decision by the US not to allow Djokovic to play in the US Open, especially when it was no longer a pandemic at that time. Ruud is a great player, but Novak does everything Casper can do just a little bit better.
