Who knew that the Real Housewives of New Jersey could spark such an interest in Italian culture?! I began with Victoria Gotti’s book, then I downloaded “Midnight In Sicily” which is so dark, moody and mysterious. Reading about the Mezzogiorno is like reading about New Orleans I can’t get enough. Now I’m on to The Good Mothers x Alex Perry about the women of Calabria who helped take the Nghandreta down. I’ve only ever gotten this excited about black culture and the Kennedys. Shout out to the Guidices even though they are a rowdy bunch they did hip me to the beauty of Italians and Italian Americans. As a Texan this is all so foreign to me but I’m devouring every bit.
