I’m in Chicago to eat at one of the city’s most famous places for Italian Beef, Al’s #1 Italian Beef. I visit and review the sandwich at the River North location of the restaurant and contemplate if it’s the best in the city.

Great tip on having a stack of napkins handy!
Sometimes Al’s beef is the best and the other times it’s Portillo’s.
Next time when I’m in Chicago, I’ll definitely try it! Thanks for the review!
Send some to Long Island !

I'm about to get this and I'm sooooo excited 😊
the bread looks mushy
I miss you Al’s! Can’t afford to get you fedexed anymore!
That's the exact way I order it when I am back home! Wet with sweet peppers all the way!
Try out a Johnny Roast beef in Brooklyn. Go to Brennan and Carr's and get double dipped.
Tried it once years ago. After the first bitE, i tasted something super overwhelming yet so familiar but could not pinpoint what it is. After Second bite I realized it had to be anistars. They used too much of it. Needless to say, rest of the sandwich went into gangs can and never ordered another one from AL's again.
Greatest intalian Beef sandwich ever
