Orange Wine is popping up in more and more spots but, what is Orange Wine? In this video, I taste a delightful Orange Wine from Italy and give you everything you need to know about the subject.

Orange wine is wine made from white grapes but unlike white wine, contact with the grape skins is allowed during the fermentation process. It results in a wine bigger in body and with some tannins. The flavors can be stunning as a result.

The wine tasted in the episode is below:

  1. Probably many years ago when cold technology was not yet used and no one thought about the oxidative damage caused by oxygen, when in musts dedicated to white wines the maceration with the skins lasted months, or the refinement took place in cement or in barrels not completely full, when the decanting was not protected from oxygen and it was bottled without filtration, I really think that more or less the current "orange" wines were obtained. I have tasted many and none of them have fully convinced me. I think it is right to have this experience, but I am convinced that it is a passing trend that will not last more than ten years.
