  1. BS they aren't fat, they're HUGE! a handful in Rome into fashion may be thinner, but someone else posted a viseo on the streets of Rome and there were tons of fat people still. I tell you why. Pasta and bread are carbohydrates, but so are vegetables. If you eat the vegetables as your carbs you don't get fat….just look at America, they do the same thing. Bread eating fools.

  2. because our "pasta" have a lot of vegetables, meat, fish and ours servings are a lot smaller than USA servings. Otherwise, the food in Italy is expensive, very high quality but high prices too then you eat the necessary.

  3. All the comments here doesn’t mention the fact that in the US nothing is really organic because our soils are full of chemicals and our food is junk full of GMO’s.

  4. I am from the US, and I spent a month in the Trastevere area working remote for my US based company. I would see healthy and thin looking men and women of all ages eating pasta dishes when I walked past their tables, and my guess was that they were still thin because the walked so much. I feel like I walked nearly 10 kilometers a day when I was our visiting the city. I went home after 30 days in better shape than I arrived because of all the hill climbing and walking I did.

  5. This is actually true. I have lived in Napoli & I never really noticed obesity anywhere. There were people who maybe overweight somewhat but not excessively.
