I am nearly 50, and I agree with your dad's inspiration: live now; don't wait!!! I'm not saying go into major debt because your have to "keep up with the Jones's" but, LIVE every day. They're a gift. Be grateful for them. Enjoy them. There's always something to be thankful for. And, from a mom of three adult kids, enjoy EVERY age. Dad will be happy to know that strawberry blonde is a form of ginger, and that ginger hair biologically can't be gray. It only fades. So, he still technically has strawberry blonde hair! My first impression was blonde even before learning you're both naturally strawberry 🙂
