Pesto is an Italian word from the word PESTARE which means to pound or to grind or crush using mortar & pestle or pestled something to powder. .
7 Authentic Ingredients:
80g Basil Leaves
150g Taggiasca Olive Oil originally produced in Liguria region of Italy
40g Pine nuts
60g Parmessan Cheese (Parmeggiano)
30g Pecorino Romano DOP (SARDAFORMAGGI) originally produced in Sardinia Italy (Sardegna Italia)
1 big clove garlic (Italians put little garlic in their dishes while Asians love lots of garlic)
3g coarse salt ( another term for sea salt or rock salt. Coarse means harsh or rough or substance with large particles)
note:
– pecorino romano is salted. we can ommit adding sea salt
– we can use extravirgin olive oil instead of taggisca Olive oil, our pesto is still Original
– we can use Grana Cheese (lower fat) instead of parmeggiano cheese, our pesto is still original.
