Staying in a UNESCO heritage listed dwelling in Italy.
We love sharing the incredible richness and variety of Italy’s authentic culture.
Here we are staying at a wonderful and unique place in the south of Italy.
We are staying in a family run wine estate that’s been in the family for generations.
The buildings you can see behind us are called Trulli.
The trulli are typical limestone dwellings of and around the town of Alberobello in the southern Italian region of Puglia.
Trulli are remarkable examples of corbelled dry-stone construction. A prehistoric building technique still in use in this beautiful region.
These structures, dating from as early as the mid-14th century -feature pyramidal, domed, or conical roofs built up of corbelled limestone slabs.
Although rural trulli can be found all along the Itria Valley, the highest concentration and best preserved examples of this architectural form are in and around the town of Alberobello.
