Welcome to Wine in Orvieto, Umbria, Italy (Benvenuto Orvieto, Argillae Winery) – another installment of “On The Road Edition” hosted by Stevie Kim. Stevie’s sits down with Giulia Di Cosimo of Argillae winery in Orvieto, Umbria. Stevie learns about the history of this modern winery talking about Benvenuto Orvieto, a special annual tasting.
The Argillae winery owes its name to the Latin word for the clay in which the terroir is rich. There are approximately 38 hectares of vineyards, situated at an altitude between 150 and 300 metres above sea level, with an east-west exposure on sunny hillsides. Its founder is Giuseppe Bonollo, who comes from an important family of distillers. Today, the winery is managed by new generations of the Bonollo family.
