Capraia Island Winery La Piana
Here we are on the island of Capraia with Alice Bollani of La Piana Winery.
Capraia is a sleepy little island three hours by ferry off the coast of Tuscany.
Alice and her small team make fabulous wines using ancient techniques such as ageing the wines in terracotta vases.
The winery is a labour of love. A hobby for Aliceโs father Eros who fell in love with Capraia and moved his family there from Emilia Romagna.
The winery terraces and the making of wine on the island is an ancient practice-with fascinating carved wine pressing stones dotting the island.
We particularly loved La Pianaโs fresh and lively rose scented rose wine-divine!
