Italian Sausages cooked in my marinara sauce so that the flavors marry together. Served over mashed potatoes is my perfect way to enjoy them.
Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons butter
1/4 cup chopped shallot
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
2 cloves of garlic
salt to taste
28 ounce can of Crushed Tomatoes
1 or 2 bay leaves
1/4 teaspoon sugar IF the tomatoes need it
some black pepper (optional)
6 sausages
Cook the butter and shallot for 3 minutes.
Add your basil, oregano, garlic and salt and cook for 30 seconds.
Add your Crushed Tomatoes and bring that up to a bubble.
Cook for ten minutes and you have my marinara sauce, but instead of cooking add up to six sausages and then cook for 35 minutes covered.
