A severe hailstorm hit the Dolo, Padua, and Veneto regions with powerful supercell storms The city of Padua was battered by hail this afternoon, on July 1st. Strong winds caused some trees to fall in the Mandria neighborhood, and the traffic signal on the Bassanello bridge malfunctioned. The Ministers’ concert scheduled for tonight at Parco della Musica has been postponed owing to inclement weather; the new date is July 21. When the group was conducting the sound check, hail and wind deluged them. When the disturbance finally reached the Venetian, Dolo was also hammered by a powerful hailstorm. In several parts of the region and generally throughout the Northeast, the sky looks to be overcast. The storm system being observed in Veneto today is a multicell storm system that may develop into a supercell. It was released between the Berici Mountains and the northern Euganean Hills and will likely move east, with a high probability of affecting Padua as well.
