I visited this Italian artisan shop while on a family trip to Italy. This family has been creating the most amazing artwork, “painting” with stones for generations! Their shop is located in Firenze, known to us Americans as Florence, Italy.
I loved seeing how they collect precious stones and use them to find the exact shading for the artwork. Then they create templates and use special tools (which they invented themselves) to cut the precious stones into pieces to fit into the finished piece. It’s really cool when they leave the backing off a piece so you can see it from the back. And then, if you shine a light through it, the piece comes alive.
Scarpelli Mosaici is an artisan workshop in the heart of Florence where artistic masterpieces are created with the ancient technique of the Florentine salesman in semiprecious stones. visitors can live a unique experience by approaching the workbenches to discover the secrets of Medici art also called “stone painting”.
The masters Renzo and Leonardo and their team of experts create custom artifacts and customized workshops. The commercial area directed by Catia supports customers during visits to the workshop and gallery and throughout the work’s purchase and shipping phase.
