It’s easy to talk about Piedmont, Tuscany, or Veneto. What do we know about much smaller Italian wine-producing regions?

You know The New York Times ranked Basilicata third in its list of “52 Places to Go in 2018”, describing it as “Italy’s best-kept secret”.

So, let’s talk about Basilicata and see what special wine it has to offer!

Basilicata sits between Campania, Apulia, and Calabria. It is the most mountainous region in the south of Italy. And it has a Mediterranean climate along the coasts and a continental one in the mountains. An important geological feature of the region is Monte Vulture, an inactive volcano located near Potenza city, where this region’s most significant viticultural zone is situated.
