The Aussie wine scene is one which celebrates the bold, the audacious, and the new… but it owes a considerable debt to the traditions and expertise brought over by Old World winemakers, who discovered exciting terroirs to explore in this expansive and beautiful country. Pizzini Wines, situated in the beautiful King Valley, is a case in point. Founded by Alfredo and Katrina Pizzini, who found that the alpine region of North East Victoria was more than a little reminiscent of their home in northern Italy, Pizzini is a love letter to traditional Italian winemaking… albeit one given a decidedly Aussie twist along the way.
Today, the Pizzini family continue to explore their passion for Italian-influenced wines in their stunning new home, and produce delicious bottles of Prosecco, Sangiovese, Arneis, Nebbiolo, and Pinot Grigio for all to enjoy. They’ve even opened a cookery school to extol their love of Italian cuisine and share it with visitors, and strike a balance between tradition and modernity that, quite simply, is the true heart of contemporary Australian winemaking.
Just a little bit of bubbles found here in this beautiful Brachetto – a grape varietal best to sip in the summer breeze! A delicious, blush pink colour that is subtle in fizz, showing that perfect balance between sweet and fresh. Sure, its a little flashy in its aromatic strawberries, candy floss and rose water notes – but just go with it! Loving the nostalgic ‘creaming soda’ palate, finishing squeaky clean with just a tickle of lime juice freshness.
