As a black solo woman traveler in Italy, I enjoyed my experiences in Rome and Florence. The biggest lesson I learned was to never depend on others for directions. People in Rome gave horrible directions so I stopped asking and figured out my way while making beautiful discoveries. My gut told me when to get off the bus, observations guided me, and instincts kept me aware. I was proud maneuvering street alleys and buses.
In this video, I’m sharing things to do and see, highlights of the Spanish Steps, Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pasta Cooking Class, Pantheon, Vatican, Piazzale Michaelangelo and helpful tips for your visit.
🔴ROME UPDATE: It is officially illegal to sit on the Spanish Steps in Rome. A new ordinance went into effect on July 8, 2019 and people caught sitting, eating, or drinking on the steps can face fines of up to $400 euro ($450). In addition, the ordinance applies to the Trevi Fountain and other popular city sites.
