The Italian island of Sardinia is a truly awesome destination for food travel. I spent an amazing week exploring and eating my way around the island. A cool place I visited was the little medieval village of Santu Lussurgiu, about 50 miles from Cagliari. I stayed at an albergo diffuso, a historic type of Italian boutique hotel diffused or spread out among several buildings in the town. The hotel was called Sa Murighessa. I had an amazing wine pairing dinner at Antica Dimora del Gruccione, a restaurant and another albergo diffuso in the village. Here’s a video that shows my incredible dinner along with a tour of the room at the hotel.
I flew to Sardinia on Air Italy ( via their hub in Milan. They have direct, daily flights to Milan from LAX and then frequent flights to Sardinia.
