Winery Marco Ricasoli
– Barone Ricasoli winery founded in (1141)
Join us for a wine tasting with Marco Ricasoli-Firidolfi scion of one of the oldest wine making families in the world.
Marco does the best explanation of how important ‘terroir’ is to wine making I’ve ever heard.
Marco’s winery Rocca di Montegrossi is located near Monti in Chianti, one of the finest sections of the Chianti Classico wine region and is about 7 km south of Gaiole in Chianti.
Marco is descended from a family that played a central role in the history of the Chianti Classico wine region and his ancestors laid the foundations for the famous and much loved Chianti Classico wine.
The Barone Ricasoli wine company is one of the oldest 10
Family run enterprises in the world. Founded in 1141.
Marco’s estate extends over an area of 100 hectares; 20 are planted to vine, another 20 are olive groves, and the remainder is woodland.
Rocca di Montegrossi was established by Geremia, founder of the Ricasoli-Firidolfi family, during the Longobard period (VII-VIII Centuries AD).
It is strategically located, dominating much of Chianti and has had an adventurous, rich and dramatic history.
We hope you can join us for a wine tasting with Marco soon.
