We were visiting Campania for the famous wines of this region. However, buffalo mozzarella is also very famous here. In fact, cheese stores dot this region like gas stations. Basically walk in and get super fresh mozzarella. Fresh as in made in front of you. Still warm and super soft.
We are with Beniamino, the owner of Vestini Winery. He took us to the spot for mozzarella and gelato made from buffalo milk. But first we stopped for truffles! And lots of truffles it was. We had a crostini that had layers of truffles on it. They came tableside and shaved away.
This region of Italy makes white and red wines. Fiano is a very popular white and Aglianico is a popular red. That is just the tip of the iceberg of wines being made here.
