How to cook pasta e piselli like an Italian:

Pasta e piselli is another part of my “poor man’s dish” series: In fact with the creative use of rather low cost ingredients such as peas and pasta (together with some onion and garlic fried in evoo) the less wealthy population in Southern Italy created a magic dish that is both healthy and delicious. It can be prepared either as soup or – as I did – as pasta dish.
There are ways to slightly elevate the recipe by adding Parmigiano Reggiano together with pasta water to make the result more “creamy” (without the use of cream!). Adding some salamino piccante may also be a good idea.

Ingredients for 2 hungry persons:
200 g of pasta (I used mezze maniche)
250 of quality peas (can be canned already)
50 g of Parmigiano Reggiano
olive oil
1 garlic clove
1/4 onion
salt
pepper
some mints leaves
some chili
