From spritz to coffee and from one train to another train, my beautiful journey to Tuscany was a blissful adventure and sweet as wine.
Tuscany is in the center of Italy and is one of the most popular destinations worldwide with its beauty and hospitality.
Visitors to Tuscany come for different reasons. Many visitors come to explore the countryside. Artists come to experience the art. Students come to study the Italian language. Wine lovers come to enjoy and discover new wines. I came to unwind, experience the beauty of the countryside, have a taste of wine, and celebrate my 52nd birthday.
I took a train scheduled at night to Florence with a stopover in Bologna from Naples. While waiting for my trip, I enjoyed a refreshing Venetian Spritz. Believe me, it was the best Spritz I’ve had so far.
The train left at 10 PM and arrived in Bologna at 3:30 AM. The train was clean and safe, I was able to take a nap. I was glad it came earlier than scheduled, so I didn’t wait long for my next train. The ride to Florence was about 1.30 hrs. I arrived in Florence around 5 AM. Nothing was open except for McDonald’s outside the train station where the early birds were hanging around. I grabbed a coffee while waiting for the station to open.
Sometimes, my spontaneous plan leads me to unexpected outcomes and expenses. It happened again. Unfortunately, there was no bus going to my destination because it was the weekend. Nevertheless, life must go on for me. So I took the risk of taking a taxi – I mean an expensive cab. I had no choice but to just enjoy the ride.
The ride from Florence train station took about an hour. So I enjoyed the beautiful countryside with the sun rising and the golden color touching the vineyards. I could feel the crisp air blowing on my face while I descended through Tuscany Hills.
I booked my accommodation through Airbnb. The place is in Reitine, a municipality in Chianti. The house has multiple rooms, and I was in the room with the best view. A bathroom and toilet overlooking vineyards? Nice! Yes, I can have my book while using the bathroom.
Chianti is in the center of Tuscany. It is one of the most beautiful and the most famous in the region. Chianti offers a unique landscape, green hills covered with vineyards and olive groves, small villages, and countryside houses in stone. Its name is synonymous with excellent wine.
My hospitable and very nice host, Patrizia, greeted me with a great coffee, toast partnered with a grape spread. Breakfast overlooking the Tuscany mountains and a pool! What more could I ask for?
The breathtaking landscapes and excellent wines are just two of the many reasons you would go to Chianti, Tuscany. Let me know if you want to stay in this accommodation. I highly recommend it, and you won’t regret it.
A day of wine tasting was another highlight of this trip. It’s part two of my Tuscany journey. I wanted to stay longer, but I have to go. I fell in love with this place. I know for sure I am coming back.
I took the bus going back to Florence, scheduled at 7 AM. If I spent a lot on the taxi ride, I didn’t spend a penny this time. The driver didn’t let me pay for the ride, and that’s another hospitality. The ride was about an hour. Upon arriving at the train station, the first thing I did was get my coffee.
Off to my next adventure.
