Disney’s BoardWalk Resort is a hotel and entertainment complex at the Walt Disney World resort, in Bay Lake, Florida, near Orlando, Florida. First opened in 1996, the BoardWalk Resort lies in the Epcot Resort Area, alongside Crescent Lake, and is situated between Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The resort is owned and operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. The inn and the villas share a common lobby with the rest of the resort. The Inn, Atlantic Dance Hall, and other features of the boardwalk were designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects.
The BoardWalk entertainment district lies along a 0.25 miles (0.40 km) long authentic boardwalk, reminiscent of Coney Island in Brooklyn, New York. Several restaurants are present on the BoardWalk, including the Big River Grille & Brewing Works, the only microbrewery at Walt Disney World; the ESPN Club, a sports bar presented by the eponymous Disney-owned sports network and also containing broadcast facilities for special events; and Kouzzina, a Mediterranean cuisine restaurant opened by celebrity chef Cat Cora. As of December 2014 a new restaurant called Trattoria al Forno, serving family-style Italian cuisine, replaced Kouzzina.
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is a resort located within the Walt Disney World Resort. It is located in the Epcot Resort Area of Walt Disney World, close to the waterpark Typhoon Lagoon and is classified as a moderately priced resort. The resort started operating on October 1, 1988, and is owned and operated by Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
The Caribbean Beach Resort is designed with a Caribbean theme. Guests stay in one of the small buildings that encircle Barefoot Bay, a 45-acre (180,000 m2) lake. Buildings are grouped into one of five villages, with shared resources, each named after an island in the Caribbean: Martinique, Barbados, Jamaica, Aruba, and Trinidad. There is also a bus that travels throughout the entire resort to get from each village to the next. Each village has its own swimming pool and some also have its own playgrounds.
Resort facilities are located at Old Port Royale Centertown, a building that contains a restaurant, a food court, an arcade, and two gift shops.
The shores of the bay feature beaches, hammocks, and other activities such as beach volleyball. The resort also features various water sports at the Marina, where resort guests can rent various watercraft, such as paddle boats and speed boats by a half-hour.
