“Capisme-e” is a Langhe Nebbiolo wine and comes from a Barolo vineyard declassified, just in front the old winery of Domenico Clerico. It comes from Bricco San Pietro, Monforte d’Alba, in the Langhe wine region of Piedmont. 2009 was the first vintage of this wine.
“Capisme-e” is a Piedmontese dialect name. It means “Understand me!” and it was created by Domenico Clerico after his surgery for brain tumor, when it was not able to speak properly. Then he has decided to make a wine that talks about this experience, trying to face off this problem.
“Capisme-e” is a great way to start to talk about Nebbiolo. A lot of people coming to the winery want to drink Barolo, obviously. But they have no idea what to expect. So they taste it, but suddenly they found that it is too much for them. So Nebbiolo is the ideal point to start to understand Barolo. Nebbiolo is a variety with no color, based on acidity, few tannins. It is not rich, fat, nor with 10gr of sugar at the end. It is very elegant, floreal, super aromatic. If you want to know what really IS Nebbiolo, you have to start from “Capisme-e”.
