PRESS RELEASE 10-21-2021
José Antonio Vidal, GWTO President & CEO: “Few entrepreneurial activities have the prospects for growth in a sector as broad and transversal as wine tourism.
The mission is to Re-Think Wine Tourism Experiences, Enhancing the Territories and involving all the stakeholders in the chain, all in allignment with the 17 Goals for Sustainable Development (Agenda 2030), i.e. taking into account sustainability, inclusiveness and accessibility as its three main axes. The key to ultimate success will be Knowledge Management and will depend on the Wine Tourism Guide, the leading figure on whom the success of the entire organisation will depend.
OMET is made up of its Associates with its Committees made up of more than 30 authorities working on Marketing strategies, and the Academy, which works in research and training, organised under a team of Fellows -directors, doctors, professors and master coordinators from the most prestigious universities and business schools, specialists in oeno, agri and gastro tourism.
The co-creation of training programmes with academic bodies, presence as exhibitors at major tourism, wine and gastronomy fairs, organisation of meetings with key stakeholders (GWTOtalks), organisation of congresses and forums, the creation of the 1st World Wine Tourism Observatory to analyse the evolution of international markets, including trends, forecasts and economic impact, and the International Wine Tourism Market Place enhanced by the GWTO Seal of Quality whose focus will be on customer satisfaction, are just some of the value propositions.
7 key words:
#cooperation, #competition, #sustainability, #inclusion, #training, #communication, #storytelling
Paola Puzzovio -Country Manager Italy- asked the question: “but what can we do for Italian wine tourism thanks to OMET? What are we missing? Well, once I knew the structure behind this organisation, I laid the foundations for an organised and structured interaction with the World, a coordination at global level that would help us to develop and strengthen networks at international level. And this is why the new figure of the Sommelier Narrator was presented, who will not only be an extraordinary communicator, but also an excellent transmitter of emotions, an Ambassador of the territory”.
Concetta D’Emma -GWTO Press&PR Italia and Corporate Glocal Storyteller- spoke about inclusive experiences also for travellers with different dietary styles, intolerances or allergies or with different religious beliefs, through the new figure of the Glocal Storyteller: “how can we tell about the territory on social media in an ethical, coherent and concrete manner, taking into account sustainability (environmental, economic, social) and policies of inclusion and accessibility? And how can we then involve our guests and travelers in more virtuous behaviour in line with our mission?.”
José Antonio Vidal concludes: “It is important that all companies and the sector think big. We are in the right business. The future is bright for all those who understand that wine tourism is a sustainable business opportunity. And that’s why coo-petition is so important: we must not see others as competitors, because all the players in the chain live together in one area.”
