Domenico Clerico Barolo Classico 2017: Blended Barolo VS Single Vineyard Barolo
Oscar, General manager and Winemaker at Domenico Clerico Estate chat with us about his concept of Barolo Classico and how the select the part in the vineyards to be Single Vineyard Barolo or Barolo Classico.
He explains us that in every vintages you can be happy or sad. Can be good or bad, so yo have alwyas know which part of the single vineyards they own will be blend into a Barolo Classico and which part in the Single Vineyard ones.
It also depending of what you want.
The Barolo Classico is made to give more drinkability and finesse and approcah to this wine. On the other hand the single vineyard Barolo, especially from Monforte are more austere and powerful and with more firm tannins.
Form the 2017 vintage the Barolo Classico becomes a “Village Barolo” as on the label shows that is from the Monforte Municipality.
