이탈리아 ‘코로나 면역증서’ 도입 몸살‥수천명 격렬 시위
Thousands took to the streets of Rome on Saturday to protest the Italian government’s decision to require all workplaces to use the so-called “Green Pass” vaccination certificate.
The protest was mostly non-violent, many raising clenched fists shouting “freedom.”
It started with an authorized protest in the Piazza Del Popolo, but later some broke off and smashed their way into a union office, which they trashed.
Trying to contain the protests, the police used water cannon and tear gas.
At least one protester was injured.
The Green Pass verifies that a person has either had least one vaccine dose, recovered from the virus in the last six months or has tested negative in the last 48 hours.
It will be mandatory beginning on October 15th, with fines for workers and employers who don’t comply.
